Troubleshooting
Fix common issues with the Edison Watch client app.
Most issues can be resolved by restarting the app. If that doesn't work, follow these guides.
Connection Issues
"AI tool not connecting"
If Cursor, VS Code, or Claude Code can't reach Edison Watch:
- Check Status: Click the menu bar icon. If it says Disconnected (red dot), check your internet connection.
- Verify MCP URL:
- Click the menu icon → Copy MCP URL to clipboard.
- Compare this with the URL in your AI tool's settings. They must match exactly.
- Restart Services: Quit both Edison Watch and your AI tool, then reopen Edison Watch first.
"Connection Refused"
This means the local gateway isn't active.
- Ensure Edison Watch is open and you are signed in.
- The app must be running for your AI tools to function.
Sign-In Issues
"Authentication failed"
- Ensure you are using your company email.
- If the browser opens but doesn't redirect back to the app, check if your firewall or "Do Not Disturb" mode is blocking the handshake.
- Try signing out from the Welcome screen and signing back in.
Approval Issues
No Notifications
If you aren't seeing approval popups:
- System Settings: Ensure notifications are enabled for Edison Watch in macOS System Settings or Windows Notifications.
- Manual Check: Click the menu bar icon. If you have pending requests, they will appear under Pending Approvals.
AI is Stuck
If your AI assistant is unresponsive:
- It is likely waiting for an approval.
- Check your menu bar icon for a yellow or red indicator.
- Approve or Deny the pending action to unblock the session.
Performance
AI Tool Latency
Edison Watch adds <50ms of latency per tool call. If the delay is significant:
- Check your organization's server status in the Dashboard.
- High latency is usually caused by network distance between your device and the Edison server.
